 LA BARCA

La Barca is not only any kind of boat. She is a boat with a long history and many stories to tell. She first came to life fourteen years ago, as the first boat that Andreas, a Berlin architect and boat builder, has ever built. She served as a comfortable house boat for five splendid years and eventually got replaced by a whole fleet of floating house boats, all in shiny new dresses. Ever since, she has been in winter sleep, parked at the dock and slowly ageing in solitude.

This all changed when we met Andreas in the beginning of 2023, and before we knew it, we were in the business of bringing his old and beautiful mothership back to life, while simultaneously making our dreams come true. And here we are now, embarking together on an exciting journey, combining the old with the new, aligning business with creativity and sustainability, learning from and with each other and most of all: creating moments that last.

OLD TO NEW

The bathroom door transformed into a bar counter, its facade crafted from an old roof structure. The outdoor stairs are remnants of a harbor pier, and the interior lighting is a relic from an East German S-Bahn train heating system. Countless forgotten screws were painstakingly organized, and wood remnants were sanded for days. The exterior wall insulation kept all feet warm already 14 years ago, and all our furnishings have seen at least two lifetimes. And there are many more stories to tell...

SPECIAL THANKS

"If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.” — Sir Isaac Newton already knew that only with the help, support and commitment of our community and the people surrounding us, we are able to progress, develop our ideas and look beyond. We are immensely grateful for everyone who was involved in the construction process and for every company supporting us with the materials we needed.

Thanks to the trust and collaboration of Nautilus Hausboote, the construction tools by Makita, Solyco's solar panels, Bluetti's power and battery station, KitchenAid's kitchen machines, and the videographic support from Perola Filmes, we achieved the remarkable feat of launching La Barca within just seven months of construction. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for your invaluable support.
